Vintage TITO UBEDA Yellow & Green Glazed Studio Art Pottery Candle / Appetizer Holder Bowl
This is a very unique bowl. The color way and style of bowl is rare to this maker. I could not find anything like it online associated with Tito Ubeda. To be honest I’m not entirely sure what it is used for other than my best guess is being a candle holder. The slot for the candle seems a little larger than a pillar candle but too small for a votive candle. I know that this maker makes very utilitarian pieces so there could be another use for this dish that I am not aware of. It also reminds me of a chip and dip plate however the dip circle seems very small for that use.
There is a manufacturing flaw on the bottom where the glaze did not cover a couple spots as shown in photo number 7. Also, there is some crazing which I have shown examples of in photos 8 & 9. It doesn’t seem like it goes through the piece but more sitting on top of the glaze. It is a very heavy and sturdy bowl.
