Rare Shenandoah Valley Redware Miniature Pitcher, attributed to S. Bell & Son, Strasburg, VA, circa 1890, miniature ovoid pitcher with narrow, flaring spout, decorated with splashes of green and brown over yellowish clay, the surface covered in a clear lead glaze. This pitcher is unusual in that it lacks the large foot so many Strasburg redware pitchers of this size have. While most pitchers of this style reveal significant amounts of red clay underneath the glaze, this pitcher has a solid yellow body, created by using an inherently yellowish clay, which did not require a slip coating. It looks like a chip on the foot but I believe that it is just discoloration. I run my fingers over & it feels smooth. 2.75” x 1.75”.

Thank you, have a great day & stay safe out there.
